In April 2015 we reported that Williams had made an application to the local council to build 180 houses on a site adjacent to the factory. Today it has been reported that this application has been approved, albeit for a reduced number at 160 homes.
What’s interesting to a Williams fan perspective is that Williams own 80 acres of land in Grove with the current factory, wind tunnel, WAE building and museum etc taking up only 30 acres of that. The new housing development, part of a larger build, will only take a further 14 acres leaving Williams with an additional 36 acres.
The parcel of land that is being sold for development can be seen on the image below marked in red with the factory site above it.
No doubt the land sale will come in handy to top up the budget for the year.
