Alan Jones ‘retires’ to be replaced by up-and-coming Finn Keke Rosberg.
Carlos Reutemann remains with the team but unexpectedly retires after only two races. He is replaced for one race by Mario Andretti and then Derek Daly for the remainder of the season.
Amazingly Rosberg wins the driver’s championship, winning only one race.
Daly’s inconsistency means that Williams can only finish 4th in the constructor’s championship.
